Eleanor Brown said, “Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.”

What, exactly, does self-care entail? It can be any activity (or non-activity) that calms you and hits a “reset” button. On Instagram, #selfcare has 9 million posts. 9 MILLION!! If you don’t want to scroll through all those posts for ideas, check some of these out:

-take a walk around your neighborhood for fresh air

                  -get a mani/pedi

-listen to an audiobook or read a book

-practice some deep breathing or meditation exercises (apps like Calm
                  and Headspace are amazing)

-take a warm bath or shower

                  -foam roll, stretch, yoga

-make some art/a craft/play an instrument

-try a new recipe in the kitchen and enjoy your culinary creation

                  -have coffee with a friend

-pet a dog or cat (or guinea pig or hamster!)

The good thing about self-care is that there is no wrong way to do it! Whatever feels good to you and whichever activity speaks to you the most is absolutely the right thing! I know that carving out time for self-care can feel like a chore, but even taking your lunch break away from the work at your desk can be a loving act to yourself. Remember this: self-care is an act of self-love, and those little acts of kindness that you show to others, you should show to yourself as well.
